Pond cleaning

Ponds are very sensitive ecosystems that require constant monitoring and appropriate cleaning and care. Unlike in pools, certain organisms are not only desired in ponds, but have even been purchased at great expense. It is therefore out of the question to use chemical processes as pond cleaners.

FROM OPTIMUM CONDITION TO ALGAE INFESTATION

The optimum condition for ponds is a balanced ecosystem in which the pond remains stable on its own. However, as ponds are usually created artificially and have to adapt to the owner's conditions, this is not always possible. The optimum condition, in which a stream constantly supplies the pond with fresh water, is very rare. Even if it is possible to intervene with a pond filter, this should only be seen as a support for garden pond cleaning and swimming pond cleaning. It is much more important that a pond is well thought out, set up and maintained. When selecting the size of the pond basin, care should be taken to ensure that there are sufficient shallow areas for aquatic plants. These serve as natural pond filters. The smaller the pond, the more mixing needs to be introduced. A pond with no hydraulics will sooner or later be depleted of oxygen: algae will form in the garden pond. This is not only unattractive to look at, but also robs plants of important resources and, in the worst case, can change the water to such an extent that fish and other animals suffer.

THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES FOR POND CLEANING

Attempts are often made to achieve mixing in smaller garden ponds using a pond filter with an integrated fountain. This is usually very unsuccessful and can also disrupt the ecosystem. It is more effective to create a small artificial stream. It looks nicer and has the advantage that the technology is much easier to maintain. The required technology includes the following pond accessories: a pond pump, filter, pipes and optionally a UV-C lamp, which controls the algae balance. However, the UV-C lamp is an absolute must for swimming ponds. Due to their size, swimming ponds require a certain amount of technology to perfectly balance the ecosystem so that it remains stable in all conditions and does not "tip over". In addition to the appropriate UV-C system, a powerful pump, sand or quartz filter are very good tools for keeping the pond stable.

GREEN WATER DOESN'T HAVE TO BE

Green water in the pond is not only a visual nuisance, it also puts a great deal of strain on the ecosystem. And it is much more fun to jump into a clear and healthy pond than a grass-green one.
