With a total capacity of 8,000 l/h, the PURION 2500 90W Dual is an extremely large UV-C disinfection system, primarily used in hotels and large multi-family houses. Technically, this system is based on two standard PURION 2500 90W units connected in series. This doubles the water's dwell time in the system, allowing more water to be disinfected. The UV-C disinfection process specifically dissolves the DNA bonds of bacteria and viruses, rendering them killed. The taste and smell remain unchanged, and the composition of the water is preserved. In this low-maintenance and reliable UV-C disinfection system, the lamps can be conveniently replaced during operation. Such a replacement is rare, as the lamps have a very long lifespan. The PURION 2500 90W Dual gives customers and tenants the assurance of drinking clean and germ-free water.

Thanks to a wide voltage ballast, this system is designed for a voltage range of 85-264V and can thus be used in many different countries. The system is equipped with a Euro plug and can also be used with an adapter (not included) for other plug types.

This system is a flow-through system. It requires a low, permanent water flow, as the UV-C lamp heats the water so much that the lifespan of the UV-C lamp can be affected.

This UV-C disinfection system from PURION meets all the technical requirements of the drinking water ordinance. The stainless steel 1.4571 used is also used in the food industry and thus meets the standard. By adhering to the prescribed maximum flow rate, the required UV-C dose of 400 J/m² is achieved at a UV-C transmission of 90% T1 cm. Thus, this UV-C system achieves a disinfection rate of 99.99%, as required by law. For trademark protection reasons, this system does not have a DVGW certificate, so in individual cases, it must be clarified with the health department whether the UV-C disinfection system can be used.

Frequently asked questions about PURION 2500 90 W DUAL ESM

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our product.

A UV-C disinfection system is always the last link in a water treatment chain, as the path to the extraction point should be kept as short as possible. In particular, water filters offer ideal conditions for colonization by bacteria. The freshly disinfected water would therefore become contaminated again if it were to continue through the drinking water circuit after passing through the UV-C system. Pressure tanks should also always be installed before the UV-C systems.

Every UV-C lamp has a technically induced drop in UV-C performance. The manufacturer guarantees that the system still reaches 60% UV-C performance after 10,000 hours. The specified data for the systems always refer to this 60% performance. However, after 10,000 hours of operation, the performance drop continues to increase. Therefore, the lamp still works, but it no longer produces enough UV-C performance for an optimal disinfection result.

Lifetime monitoring is recommended for all users who do not leave the system permanently on. A lamp replacement every 10,000 hours is recommended because the manufacturer does not guarantee performance beyond that, i.e., the amount of UV-C radiation dose necessary for safe disinfection.

If no water is drawn during the operation of the lamps, the water inside the system heats up. In the 10W, 17W, and 36W systems, this effect is negligible as the water temperature does not rise above 40°C. However, if the water is heated more than 40°C, as is possible with the 48W and 90W variants, the lifespan of the lamp can be negatively affected. Therefore, it is recommended to ensure a constant water flow in these systems.

The UV system should be permanently switched on for various technical reasons:
1.) The UV system takes about 1 minute to reach full performance.
2.) Igniting the lamp requires about as much energy as operating it for two hours.
3.) Each on and off cycle reduces the lifespan.

The important factor here is not the average daily water consumption, but the maximum withdrawal amounts that can occur. Therefore, the correct drinking water system is determined by the existing extraction stations and the number of people in the house. A fully opened faucet has a capacity of 300 to 500 liters per hour. In case of doubt, the next stronger system should be used.

No, we recommend flow reactors because the maximum distance between the water to be disinfected and the UV-C lamp is precisely defined. A tank disinfection system can only ensure complete disinfection if it has a previously calculated circulation. Furthermore, flow reactors are significantly more efficient.

A UV-C sensor is used to measure the emitted UV-C performance directly at the lamp. This ensures much higher safety for the user, as a performance drop is directly signaled. This can be due to poor transmission or a natural performance drop of the lamp by reaching the recommended maximum operating time of 10,000 hours.

This should be clarified with the health department in case of doubt. For this purpose, the operating certificate for the systems is available in the download area of the respective product pages of this online shop. We are also happy to advise you personally on this topic. Alternatively, we also offer a UV system certified according to both DVGW and Ö-Norm with the PURION DVGW ZERT.
