With rising water prices and expensive connection fees, self-sufficiency with drinking water is more than just an alternative. One of the biggest hurdles in this independence is the targeted disinfection of water. Bacteria, such as the often headline-making E-Coli or other germs and viruses, make perfect disinfection absolutely necessary for every household. The PURION 1000 is not only ideally suited for a single-family home with up to four people, but it is also extremely energy-efficient with 17W. The treatment with UV-C light does not affect the smell or taste of the water. The compact design of the PURION 1000 makes it very easy to integrate into existing water circuits. Due to these advantages, the PURION 1000 is the right choice to protect against rising prices and to take care of the health of the whole family.

With the help of the 12V connection, this system can be integrated into various power circuits. Examples of this are batteries and photovoltaic panels or the power circuit of a motorhome. Especially with photovoltaic panels, a battery is indispensable because the UV-C lamp must constantly receive 12V voltage.

This UV-C disinfection system from PURION meets all the technical requirements of the drinking water ordinance. The stainless steel 1.4571 used is also used in the food industry and thus meets the standard. By adhering to the prescribed maximum flow rate, the required UV-C dose of 400 J/m² is achieved at a UV-C transmission of 90% T1 cm. Thus, this UV-C system achieves a disinfection rate of 99.99%, as prescribed by law. For trademark protection reasons, this system does not have a DVGW certificate, so in individual cases, it must be clarified with the health department whether the UV-C disinfection system can be used.

At what point should the UV-C system be installed in the drinking water circuit?

A UV-C disinfection system is always the last link in a water treatment chain, as the path to the point of use should be kept as short as possible. In particular, water filters offer ideal conditions for colonization by bacteria. The freshly disinfected water would therefore become contaminated again if it were to continue through the drinking water circuit after passing through the UV-C system. Pressure tanks should also always be installed before the UV-C systems.

When do I need a lifetime monitoring?

Lifetime monitoring is recommended for all users who do not leave the system permanently on. A lamp replacement every 10,000 hours is recommended, as the manufacturer does not guarantee performance beyond that, meaning the amount of UV-C radiation dose necessary for safe disinfection.

Does the system automatically turn on with water flow?

For various technical reasons, the UV system should be left on continuously:
1.) The UV system takes about 1 minute to reach full power.
2.) Igniting the lamp requires about as much energy as operating it for two hours.
3.) Each on and off cycle shortens the lifespan.

How do I know which UV-C system is right for me?

The correct sizing of the systems is not based on the maximum daily consumption but on the expected maximum peak rate and is therefore dependent on the pump's performance.

What should be considered when installing 12V DC and 24V DC systems?

It should be noted that no power supplies with pulsed voltage should be used, as this can cause irreparable damage to the system.

Can the system be operated with photovoltaic panels?

Yes, that is possible. However, it is always recommended to use a battery to ignite the lamp. Additionally, a solar regulator should always be used.

Do you recommend tank disinfection?

No, we recommend flow reactors, as this precisely defines the maximum distance between the water to be disinfected and the UV-C lamp. A tank disinfection system can only ensure complete disinfection if it has a previously calculated circulation. Furthermore, flow reactors are significantly more efficient.
