Liquids such as coolant and lubricant emulsions as well as fuels can easily tip over and spoil. As a result, machines can be damaged if, for example, fine nozzles become clogged with mold or algae particles. Harmful chemicals are often used in an attempt to prevent this, but this is not only harmful to the environment but also very costly. These high-density liquids can be treated with the system PURION 500 Pro can be reliably disinfected using UV-C radiation. The liquid film thickness is only 2 mm, which means that the UV output does not suffer even with low UV transmission. Process water can be disinfected at 300 l/h, emulsions at 200 l/h. PURION 500 can be serviced without tools, both for cleaning and the installation of spare parts.

In this configuration, the Pro system has no monitoring, it only indicates when the lamp has failed. It should be noted that the lamp must be replaced after 10,000 hours. Within these 10,000 hours, the lamp always has an output of at least 60%. With this output, the promised disinfection performance can be maintained.

Where must the UV-C system be installed in the drinking water circuit?

A UV-C disinfection system is always the last link in a water treatment chain, as the distance to the tapping point should be kept as short as possible. Water filters in particular offer ideal conditions for colonization by bacteria. The freshly disinfected water would therefore become contaminated again if it were to continue through the drinking water circuit after passing through the UV-C system. Pressure boilers should also always be installed upstream of the UV-C systems.

When do I need service life monitoring?

Lifetime monitoring is recommended for all users who do not leave the system switched on permanently. It is recommended that the lamp is replaced every 10,000 hours, as the manufacturer does not guarantee its performance beyond this, i.e. the amount of UV-C radiation dose required for safe disinfection.

Does the system switch on automatically when water flows through?

The UV system should be switched on permanently for various technical reasons:
1.) The UV system requires approx. 1 minute to reach full power.
2) When igniting the lamp, approximately as much energy is required as for operation over two hours.
3) Each switch-on and switch-off cycle is detrimental to the service life.

How do I know which UV-C system is right for me?

The correct dimensioning of the systems is not based on the maximum daily consumption but on the expected maximum peak rate and is therefore dependent on the performance of the pump.

What should I bear in mind when installing 12V DC and 24V DC systems?

It must be ensured that no power supply units with pulsed voltage are used, as this can cause irreparable damage to the system.

Can the system be operated with photovoltaic panels?

Yes, this is possible. However, the use of a battery is always recommended for igniting the lamp. In addition, a solar regulator should always be used.

Do you recommend tank sterilization?

No, we recommend using flow-through reactors, as this precisely defines the maximum distance between the water to be disinfected and the UV-C lamp. A tank disinfection system can only guarantee complete disinfection if it has a previously calculated circulation. In addition, flow-through reactors are significantly more efficient.
