Description

With a PURION 1000 P, the health-promoting benefits of a saltwater pool can be fully enjoyed. Saltwater is very gentle on the skin, it protects the skin from drying out and is very soothing for the eye mucous membranes. Therefore, cleaning with chlorine is absolutely not appropriate for this special form of pool. The advantages that arise from saltwater are negated by the disadvantages that come with cleaning with chlorine. The UV-C cleaning process with the PURION 1000 P is much more ecologically and economically suitable here. UV-C light dissolves the DNA bonds of algae and bacteria, so they are considered dead. With the PURION 1000 P, the UV-C cleaning process can be applied to a pool up to 10m³. In doing so, the composition of the water is not altered in any way, unlike when using chlorine. Especially with a health-promoting product like a saltwater pool, it is absolutely necessary to carry out a health-compatible cleaning of the pool.

Due to the PVC reactor, this system is suitable for saltwater. Since the welds of stainless steel are attacked by the salt, there is no alternative to PVC for the saltwater area.

To keep a pool free of algae permanently, the correct coordination between the pump and the UV-C system is necessary. It is important that at least three times the pool volume flows through the UV-C system per day. The maximum flow rate of 3m³/h should not be exceeded, as this will result in the water not being disinfected correctly. In certain cases, it is necessary to run the system longer: This is urgently required, for example, after heavy rainfall or if the water has been standing in the pool over the winter.

In an unfavorable initial situation with a lot of algae, it can be advantageous to use a biological flocculant to support the UV-C system.

Frequently asked questions

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our product.

The pool systems from the company PURION are not exposed to overheating problems if the UVC system is turned on but no water flow occurs.

No. We recommend always operating the UV system in combination with the pump, which utilizes the full flow for disinfection. Since the system has a relatively large diameter, there is no failure if the pump is defective and there is no water flow with the UV lamp turned on.

For optimal effect, we recommend circulating the entire pool content at least three times daily. However, the system should be in operation for at least 8 hours daily to ensure sufficient ventilation and filtration. The circulation rate depends on the performance of the pump and sand filter used. The net performance of the pump can be reduced by the lengths and heights of the pipes to be overcome. Also interesting: In our compact systems, the pump, sand filter, and UVC system are ideally matched and pre-assembled.

There is a simple calculation for this: the pool content should flow through the UV-C system at least three times a day to kill a large portion of the algae through proper mixing. If algae growth is increased, e.g., during phases of extreme sunlight or after heavy rainfall or a thunderstorm, we recommend temporarily setting the circulation rate to four times. Regardless of the circulation rate, we recommend having the system in operation for at least 8 hours daily to allow sufficient ventilation and filtration.

By considering all three basic recommendations for using a UV-C system in the pool area, the pool can be operated completely without chlorine. The occasional use of a biological flocculant may be advisable. However, our high-quality UV-C lamps allow a combination of chlorine and UV-C, as no ozone is produced, which would react with chlorine.

The high-quality UV-C lamps from the brand PURION are durable and very powerful. They produce a very high UV-C content. The lamps we use in the pool area are also used in other systems for drinking water treatment. The UV lamps used do not emit radiation below 250nm, which excludes the formation of toxic ozone. Thus, the systems from PURION can be used in combination with other treatment methods that use chlorine, for example.

No, from our perspective, ozone should not be used in the pool area under any circumstances. Ozone is highly toxic. Excess ozone must be laboriously destroyed again, and it is often unclear how much ozone is left. Furthermore, ozone reacts with chlorine, significantly reducing the effectiveness of both methods. Cheaply produced UV lamps often emit radiation below 250nm, which can form ozone. This is excluded in the systems from PURION.

Each UV-C lamp exhibits a technically induced decline in UV-C output. The manufacturer guarantees that the system will still achieve 60% UV-C output after 10,000 hours. The specified data for the systems always refer to this 60% output. However, after 10,000 hours of operation, the decline in output continues to increase. Therefore, the lamp still works, but it no longer produces enough UV-C output for optimal disinfection results.

A lifespan monitoring is recommended for all users who do not keep the system permanently switched on. It is recommended to replace the lamp every 10,000 hours, as the manufacturer does not guarantee the performance, i.e., the amount of UV-C radiation dose necessary for safe disinfection, beyond that.
