Teichreinigung: Die Grundlagen der Teichpflege

Pond cleaning is crucial for the well-being of your garden pond. Ponds are delicate ecosystems that require continuous monitoring and care. Unlike pools, certain organisms are desired in ponds and are often deliberately introduced. Therefore, chemical cleaning agents are not suitable.

From optimal condition to algae infestation

A balanced ecosystem that regulates itself is the ideal state for ponds. However, since most ponds are artificially created, this state is difficult to achieve. Often, additional measures such as a pond filter are necessary, but these should only serve as support. More important is the careful planning and maintenance of the pond. A well-thought-out design with sufficient shallow areas for aquatic plants can serve as a natural filter and prevent algae growth in the pond. Algae are not only unsightly but also deprive other plants of nutrients and can make the water uninhabitable for fish and other animals.

The right equipment for pond cleaning

To support pond cleaning in smaller garden ponds, a pond filter with an integrated fountain is often used. However, an artificial stream is more effective, offering both aesthetic and functional advantages. Necessary equipment includes a pond pump, filters, pipes, and optionally a UV-C lamp that controls algae growth. Especially in swimming ponds, a UV-C lamp is indispensable to maintain the delicate balance of the ecosystem. A powerful pump, combined with sand or quartz filters, additionally contributes to the stability of the pond.

Green water doesn't have to be

Green water is not only an aesthetic problem but significantly burdens the pond ecosystem. A clear, healthy pond is more enjoyable and promotes the well-being of all its inhabitants.
