Description
With rising water prices and expensive connection fees, self-sufficiency in drinking water is more than just an alternative. One of the biggest hurdles in this self-sufficiency is the targeted disinfection of water. Bacteria such as e-coli, which often makes the headlines, or other germs and viruses make perfect disinfection absolutely essential for every household. The PURION 1000 is not only ideal for a single-family home with up to four people, but is also extremely energy-efficient at 17W. Treatment with UV-C light does not affect the smell or taste of the water. The compact design of the PURION 1000 makes it very easy to integrate into existing water circuits. These advantages make the PURION 1000 is the right choice to protect yourself from rising prices and to look after the health of the whole family.
With the help of the 12V connection, this system can be integrated into various power circuits. Examples of this are batteries and photovoltaic panels or the power circuit of a motorhome. A rechargeable battery is essential for photovoltaic panels in particular, as the UV-C lamp must be supplied with a constant 12 V voltage.
This UV-C disinfection system from PURION meets all the technical requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance. The stainless steel 1.4571 used is also used in the food industry and therefore meets the standard. The required UV-C dose of 400 J/m² with a UV-C transmission of 90% T1 cm is achieved in compliance with the prescribed maximum flow rate. This UV-C system therefore achieves a disinfection rate of 99.99%, as required by law. For trademark protection reasons, this system does not have a DVGW-Therefore, in individual cases it must be clarified with the health authority whether the UV-C disinfection system can be used.

A UV-C disinfection system is always the last link in a water treatment chain, as the distance to the tapping point should be kept as short as possible. Water filters in particular offer ideal conditions for colonization by bacteria. The freshly disinfected water would therefore become contaminated again if it were to continue through the drinking water circuit after passing through the UV-C system. Pressure boilers should also always be installed upstream of the UV-C systems.
Lifetime monitoring is recommended for all users who do not leave the system switched on permanently. It is recommended that the lamp is replaced every 10,000 hours, as the manufacturer does not guarantee its performance beyond this, i.e. the amount of UV-C radiation dose required for safe disinfection.
The UV system should be switched on permanently for various technical reasons:
1.) The UV system requires approx. 1 minute to reach full power.
2) When igniting the lamp, approximately as much energy is required as for operation over two hours.
3) Each switch-on and switch-off cycle is detrimental to the service life.
The correct dimensioning of the systems is not based on the maximum daily consumption but on the expected maximum peak rate and is therefore dependent on the performance of the pump.
It must be ensured that no power supply units with pulsed voltage are used, as this can cause irreparable damage to the system.
Yes, this is possible. However, the use of a battery is always recommended for igniting the lamp. In addition, a solar regulator should always be used.
No, we recommend using flow-through reactors, as this precisely defines the maximum distance between the water to be disinfected and the UV-C lamp. A tank disinfection system can only guarantee complete disinfection if it has a previously calculated circulation. In addition, flow-through reactors are significantly more efficient.
